Police have the parking lots of the apartment complex sealed with tape. Curious residents are coming and going from the six-story building, using a north entrance. Investigators are huddled at and concentrating on the southwest side of the building.
Aurora police were involved in two other officer-involved shootings this summer.
On June 27 Aurora police fatally shot a man, during a foot chase, in the parking lot of the Biltmore Motel, 8900 E. Colfax Ave., police said.
The officer who fired the fatal shot in the Biltmore incident, Drew Limbaugh, was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing.
Limbaugh is also under investigation in the July 30 shooting death of 73-year-old Richard Gary Black, an Aurora homeowner who was shot by police while defending his family from a violent intruder.
